Blooming Summer- New Floral Art Prints
Share
I am so pleased to tell you that I have been working on a collection of floral artworks which are now available as prints.
There are four to choose from. Which are your favourites?
I think they are perfect for Summer and anyone who loves strong colour and vintage vibes all year round.
These first four are vibrant, bold pictures with intricate black line work and full colour. All made on my ipad completely by hand.
No gentle pastels here at the moment!
I have had a life long love of drawing, painting, looking at and now growing flowers, having been fortunate enough to have lived with garden spaces for most of my life.
I’ve also had the opportunity to visit some amazing gardens.
Anyone who knows me is aware I have collected a rather large amount of mid century vintage tableware and china, particularly jugs! During My 1970s childhood I was surrounded by wonderful floral design (thanks Mum❤️) the influence of which is evident in these four pieces.
Inspiration has also come from many of the wonderful floral artworks I’ve seen such as Dutch flower paintings from the ‘Golden Age’ (hence the velvety black background in ‘Happy Clappy Bouquet’), Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s floral themed work and so many wonderfully creative and playful ways some of the 20th century greats like Gabriella Münter, Van Gogh and Henri Matisse used flowers as a subject. The floral work of Contemporary artists like Angie Lewin and Orla Kiely have also been a great encouragement to experimenting in stylising and abstracting floral forms.
I have made many paintings and drawings about flowers and gardens throughout my life. These won’t be the last!
