About Ruth Dronsfield

Welcome to my online shop and showcase for my art. I hope you can find something wonderful to enrich your surroundings.

This website is a brand new venture for me, and I plan to be making many more of my artworks available as giclée fine art prints, as well as offering my watercolour and acrylic paintings for sale.

I have had a lifelong love for making and teaching art. Until relatively recently teaching art was the main focus of my working life. I have now changed things around so that making art is my main focus.

I am an artist who loves to create expressive, playful and dynamic imagery in both abstract and stylised representation. I am equally engaged by colour and monochrome, and always preoccupied with intense compositions and layering.

My ideas often have their beginnings in places, landscapes, flora and fauna; those I look at carefully, and also remember or invent. Having enjoyed looking at art since a child, I now have a very long list of inspiration which continues to grow!

I dance around recurring themes and motifs and celebrate what I see, feel and experience, using digital software as well as traditional drawing and painting materials.

My work seeks to express an appreciation for the bittersweetness of life, to celebrate everyday moments, and to express the hope and peace I can have because of my Christian faith.

In 1990 I graduated from St.Martins School of Art (now University of the Arts London) with an honours degree in Fine Art. After achieving my teaching qualification in Art and Design at the Institute of Education, University of London, I taught children and young people in various educational settings. I exhibited my work in galleries and public spaces around Essex and London. Since 2012 my art teaching business ‘Creative Art Classes’ has provided art lessons and workshops for hundreds of adults and children. I have scaled down the teaching element of my work recently to focus on developing my art, but can still be found online teaching and mentoring.

My pictures are in private collections around the world and I regularly undertake commissions.
